Questions from Makongo Secondary School

a) In the next 1000 years, the thermometer won't fall. This because of too much CO2 in the air and we can't do anything against it. Even if there were no CO2 discharge anymore, nothing would change.

All this is because the temperature is changing even slower than the CO2 concentration in the air.

This global heating tends to result in a higher sea level and this is very dangerous to many countries which have access to the sea.

If we continue living like this, at the end of this century half of the people will be hungry. All this because the average temperatures are rising dramatically.

Many of the nature phenomena will be destroyed, just to give an example: Almost all of the glaciers have lost from 1864-2005 half of their size. If we continue and don’t do anything to avoid this, the next generations will just see pictures of the glaciers.

We think it’s a big problem and every person has to do something. We hope that the people in a few years won’t suffer from the fact that we haven’t done anything.

a) In our newspapers the get-together in Washington is mentioned. Agents from all over the world will talk about the climate. In the center of the discussion is the reduction of the greenhouse gases.

b) They want to extend the validity of the Kyoto pact and have the promise that the USA and China enter in to the pact which means, that they give the best to reduce the greenhouse gases.

c) It’s a problem which is always in the newspapers but often there are local events which are more in front.

Asked by: Makongo Secondary School | Kantonsschule Baden (1)

a) We are angry about the fellow men who don’t care about the climate change.

We don’t feel any responsibility as a single person about this. Every person thinks

the other one should look after the climate change. But it doesn’t solve the

problem because every person has to begin personally himself.

We hope that our environment wil get better as our world administration can find a

solution for the problem.

It isn’t indifferent for us what’s happening to our world, but we always want that

someone else makes the first step and begins with the change.

b) Our feeling is anger, because we feel responsible about the environment and

don’t want to destroy the world. So we are angry about the people who don’t

care about the problem and also a bit about us because we always think the

others should make the first step. At the end nobody does it.

We have to change our polluting habits. Otherwise our children will live in a destroyed world. Millions of people will lose their place to live, because of the sea-level rise. But we can change the world all together.

Yes. In winter, our lakes freeze less than in the past. The seasons change strangely, like up- and downturns. But the most noticeable things are the glaciers in the mountains, for example the Aletsch glacier. When you visit it, you can see where its end was in 1950 and where it ends today, and the difference is clearly apparitional.

a) If we knew the consequences that happen if lived exactly the same way as we do right now, I'm pretty sure that we would do many things completely differently.

From the beginning we would care about the CO2 output and try to control it. We would have a look for alternative energies and not just use the oil resources.

b) Everything we know right now. We did many things wrong, especially we didn't really think about what we are doing when we built all those factories and started using the limited resources.

a) If I would be able to freely choose which kinnd of life form I would like to lead a life of cat because as it seems they have no kind of problems in their lifes. If they're not homeless or by a person who is really bad, they're feeded all the time and can just lazy around.

b)Yes, of course I have

a) We enjoy playing football, volleyball and other sports. We also enjoy doing something with frinds.

b) We can do the things we really enjoy after school and at the weekends, but during the day we have school, so we can't do the things we enjoy during the day.

We can do it only after school or at the weekends but it isn't very tragically, that we can do it all the time.

Strange animals (parasites, insects) come in our country and destroy our plants. Other plants come then and take there place and give our plants a hard time too.

They write very much in newspapers and show on TV, that climate change is a problem and sequences of it. There are many discussions, but there aren’t so many good ideas to do something.

Asked by: Makongo Secondary School | Kantonsschule Baden (1)

We think too many people drive cars also for short distances. When people have a car, they become lazy and they ever use the car and never the public transportation. Another fact is, that we use too much electricity.

In our country you notice the climate chance mostly in the glacier area. There the snow and the ice melt and the glaciers became smaller. The other place aren't very affected by climate change. Of course we realize when ther is an extremly summer or winter with really hight and low temperatures.

Switzerland is a very rich country, so we do what we love to: we go on holidays with a plane to abroad places, we need the car often and we walk rarely, we often buy new things and use the air conditioner in summer. So we think that there are many things we could do to reduce the CO2 emission.

a) We like a hot spring in Vals. You can go to:

www.therme-vals.ch

It has an unique architecture. Peter Zumtohr mad this building.

He won the "Purlitzer Price" in architecture this year. The "purlitzer Price" is like an oscar, but in a different subject.

Yes,

The system in Switzerland is a bit complicated. We are a democracie.

The important things are subdivided in different "departments".

We have a department for environment. These guys are doing a very good job.

On the other hand we have a lot of organisations, which make great efforts in solutions for the environment.

But I believe it's important that first of all the big countries like America, Russia, China... take care of their CO2 emissions. Is it really useful, if 7Mill. people in Switzerland shut every evening their computer down, and on the opposite site there are 400 Mill. people, who drive every day for hours with their own car ????

Asked by: Makongo Secondary School | Kantonsschule Baden (1)

In our country we have many public means of transport and we want to travel a lot with them. So we don't want to travel a lot with the car but there are many peoples who don't care about the climate.

We also want to promote the nature energies. For example we want to produce morn with whater and Wind and sun energy.
