Question 1 to 8 out of 23
David:1:Climate change is a bomb waiting to explode. At the current rate of these weather changes then soon we may not tell the difference between night and day.
2:In my country we shall soon get to see the greatest human-animal conflict.most of the areas affected are forests which have been the source of water for the locals but now its a fight between man and beaste.I fear to think of the consequences.
Susan1change is the difference in weather patterns that creates alot of confusion in how we used to live.this has been brought about by so many factors that have brought about less trees therefore less rain and finally less water.Gases are being released into the air bringing pollution and destruction of the ozone layer. It is just very dangerous.
2:The consequences are already there with people and communities who rely on farming activites now starving.they cant have enough rain and the weather is all mixed up and confusing so the forcasts are not giving the right time to start farming. There is the risk of less food and finally we shall be begging for food reliefs which previously were available.
Junior:1:My understanding of climate change is when there is a great difference in climatic conditions. This has affected the weather conditions bringing changes to everything that was being done especially farming.
2:The effects have been bad especially in the Mau Forest area.Lack of adequate rain has made wildlife to migrate in thousands to neighbouring countries. This is a minus for my country because one of our sources of foreign money is tourism. Now with no animals for tourists to come and see I can forsee the danger of my country becoming poorer and poorer because of a drop in foreign currency.
1.EXPLOSIVE MAU DOSSIER2.ALARM OVER MAU DESTRUCTION3.RIVERS,LAKES DRY OUT AS CATCHMENTS ARE IN DANGER4.RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO SAVE THE MAU.5.OVER 25% OF MAU GRABBEDThese are some of the headlines that were seen in our newspapers this morning. That is how serious the Mau Forest issue has become. The destruction of this enormous forest which once served lots of people is now in danger of extinction.Politics is playing centre stage as opposing sides are either against the forceful eviction of the illegal settlers and those that support the eviction.Centrestage is whether these people should be compensated or not.Meanwhile as all this is taking place illegal logging and burning of charcoal is still going on.We are all hoping for some sanity to prevail so that we can save the numerous catchment areas that provide water to lots of peolpe and to the great Lake Nakuru which is continuing to dry up.Our flamingoes are also getting the heat of this thorny issue. As a group of students who wish to save the climate ,we are really for the Mau to be saved to save our planet from these harsh climatic changes brought about by the wanton destruction of Mau Forest.
2a:Peter:Cimate change has been mentioned in dealing with climate change and food security. This is mainly due to the fact that we rely heavily on agriculture and if this is not secured soon then we shall have a starving nation.
b:The proposal was that a stop had to be put to the rising number of people taking in the forests. Many people are now living in areas which were once forests and there is now a lot of cutting down of trees and charcoal burning thus affecting many rivers which are depended by the population. All these people were to be given alternative land to resettle and do their farming.
c:The priority is somehow minimal because alot of it is because of politics.None of our leaders would like to evict the said communities because of fears in losing their confidence.
d:The headline that really impressed me most was THE CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION IN AFRICA because it shows how serious this problem is and it is not only a one country issue but an issue to be tackled by Africa as a whole. Also that it is a step fprward to make Africa rise up and not wait for anybody to come and do for them what they can do.
e:A headline I would give an article on climate change would be CLIMATE RISK MANAGEMENT
a:the feelings on anger make me feel insecure and scared because this shows that finally there is going to be great danger for the whole world, responsibilty makes me feel that no one wants to take responsibilty but the blame is pointing fingers, hope brings forth determination that if we can manage the climate change problem then there is going to be good things ahead, indifference brings forth fear because if we do not show that we care we are all going to be in alot of danger.
b:The emotion strongly felt is love and responsibilty for the universe because this is where we live and we also expect others to live in many years to come.
If I was talking on climate change to the whole world then my points will be focused mainly on the people of the world to act responsible.we need each other in this world and if the problem is going to be felt in one part of the world then it is going to affect the whole world.Leadres to take a step in handling climate change with the communities.Young people like us should also be given a chance to suggest solution that affect them as the next people to be there.Sensitisation like through radio, media, books, workshops shuld be done.

We couldn't go there yet because the situation changed dramatically. The Mau Forest was once one of Kenya’s most important water catchment areas. In 1985 round 450,000 Kikuyus who lived and worked on forestry stations in the area were evicted, to make way for Kalenjin settlers under the Moi government. The Mau Forest was the source of several rivers, but after Kalenjin settlers cut down thousands of acres of trees, many of the rivers dried up and drought began ‘to hit Kenya’.. Recognising the ecological importance of the Mau Forest, Kenya’s environment minister has now called for the eviction of Kalenjin settlers. There are now people who say that if the government intends to compensate Kalenjin settlers, it must first compensate the Kikuyu who previously inhabited the forest. Everything turns out really bad. We now lack water and all these shortages are due to depletion of our forest cover.right now many of our people have died because of hunger.Today some of us joined a group of young people who are funding an exercise to feed the over one million people facing starvation.its not a longterm solution but for now it will do.
Before 1985, the controversial Mau Forest had both indigenous forest and large acres of trees planted for commercial purpose. On maturity, those trees were sold for the manufacture of papers, guns, buildings and furniture. Once the trees were sold they were replaced with young seedlings. The sold trees earned Kenya millions of shillings every year. There were more than thirty forest stations, each with 15,000 Kenyans in and around Mau Forest. The parents of those families were employed to plant and to look after the young trees, weeding out unnecessary vegetation which tended to interrupt the proper growth of the trees and they pruned the bigger ones to improve their qualities. In total, all the inhabitants of those forest stations were 450,000, most of who were the Kikuyus. There were a few Kisiis, Luhyas and Luos. There were no Kalenjins working in those forest stations.
In my school I would like to plant more trees and flowers. According to me, when you plant trees there will be more fresh air and the rain will be distributed accordingly. On top of that studies will be carried out nicely as pupils won't always feel dizzy dizzy.
For example when people destroyed the Mau forest we have seen what has happened. Rainfall distribution has started being a problem and our rivers have already started to dry up- I hate so much to just sit an watch how our beatiful country will turn into an arid place. If we gang up and try to fight this endulging scandal then our next generation will be just full of fun. No hunger, thirst and we won't live to regret it at all because the younger people are going to survive though us. Let's gang up to create awareness! Natalia Nyaboke Kaunda

Today is our National Census Day,the day when our government is counting all its citizens. This is a very important exercise which is carried out after every ten years.Over the years despite the many challenges that we face as a nation we have continually increased in numbers at a drastic rate.Currently we are faced with the starvation problem and lack of food in many parts of our country.Much has been said but very little done in terms of improving our standards of living and health situations in our nation. It is also important to have this exercise so that the government could come up with strategic plans on how to take care of its citizens in terms of food security, health care matters, education faculties, our security among many other things that touch the people of our country. Our vision this time is that by 2030 our country would have reached close to a developed nation.
Our future generation will have come to a point where they will carry out many activities without relying on foreign nations each time for aid.
The counting is going to start tonight at around 6.30pm.All businesses, shops and work places are supposed to be closed for the counting.Everybody is supposed to be in their houses by six this evening to be counted.Security has been beefed up so that we do not have cases of impersonators attacking people in their houses pretending to be the officials doing the counting.Police and security personel have been deployed everywhere to make the exercise a success. Those in hospitals will be counted there, those in prison the same and those who have travelled will also be counted wherever they are.The one abroad will be counted according to the information the government has about them.We ar all hoping for the best so that at long last we come up with a workable plan for the government to take care of its people. This census is a very important one especially at this time. Our population currently stands at approximately 35million.Some analysts predict that within the last ten years we may reach a staggering 50million.This could be a very big figure as compared to the resources we have. But we shall wait and see the figure given after the census.
Out of ten families here six are starving. The drought has affected the whole country.menengai is among schools with starving pupils.yes, there are students who cant get meals and they depend on help and the Red Cross.many of them come from needy families.some are well taken care of and they at times help their schoolmates.
Yesterday we took some food to some very needy families.you should have seen the despair in their faces.its so sad
