1. The climate change

 

« The climate is something which we have to treat carefully. We have to take this change which is going on seriously. Sooner or later, we will have such a big problem, which will be inversible. We don’t have to bear the consequences. Our children and their children will suffer from this climate change. » (by Adrian)

 

 

2. The possible consequences for your country - and take note of the answers.

b) What do yout think about these answers?

 

I‘m surprised to hear those arguments of a friend of mine, who isn’t politically interested at all. But a lot of important information is spread over the newspaper and the internet. (by Adrian)

a) What kind of direct problems have been mentioned?

About one month ago, I read in the newspaper that months April and March were about 2 degrees above the average. All the time, there are articles about catastrophes caused by the climate change like the overflows. (by Adrian)

 

 

b) What solutions have been proposed?

In Switzerland there was a suggestion of persons of our governement that there would be a tax on fossil fuels, which would be used for projects which protect our climate (like myClimate!). It's a pity that this suggestion was rejected. (by Adrian)

 

 

c) What priority have these reports about climate change been given in the newspapers in your country?

I think that those reports are very important for the people. A lot of people would forget, how bad the climate change is, if they didn’t read it daily. (by Adrian)

 

 

d) Which headline caught your eye and impressed you the most? Explain the reason why.

It’s a long time ago, but still very present: The taifun in December 2005. It’s the first time I can remember, when the climate change claimed as many victims, deaths and derelicts. (by Adrian)

 

 

e) Which headline would you give an article about climat change?

a) Write down your emotional feelings for the words “anger, responsibility, hope and indifference” in connection with the topic of climate change.

I’m scared because nobody knows exactly what’s going to happen. I know that I’m responsible for that whether only a bit. I hope everyone will do everything to avoid a catastrophe. (by Adrian)

 

 

b) Which kind of emotion do you feel most strongly in connection with the topic of climate change? (This does not have to be one of the four mentioned above). Explain the reasons why.

I feel helplessness, because I know I could do everything which is in my power, but it wouldn’t change a lot, almost nothing. This scares me. (by Adrian)
