All eyes on Copenhagen

Class: St. Mary's Secondary School | By: St. Mary\'s Secondary School

Dear All, As we are all looking forward to Copenhagen conference this December, let us think of the best ways to advise the international community to come up with sustainable solutions for climate change problem. We the poor countries have contributed very little to this crisis but will be most affected by something that we have not or slightly contributed. With this now it will be genuine for me to say rich countries Europe and USA have to do something to stop this crisis before it becomes another world catastrophe. Two things come in my mind when I think of what should be done by the rich countries. One I think they should ban all cars in their countries using fossil fuels or upgrade the price for all cars using petroleum and things like diesel to make them expensive while reducing prices for  hybrid cars and gas engine cars. Two rich countries have a responsibility to pay back the poor countries on what they have caused to us, this can be done in helping poor countries  develop sustainable economies that will not harm mother nature. Thanks a lot It's US St. Mary's secondary school students, Dar es Salaam Tanzania

Well, i can understand your point. But, the way i see it, climate change is now a fact, that we have to resolve like a world, not like countries.
Even that you may be right that the problem was most cause by the rich countries, we can't give them all the responsibility, because while they were destroying our planet, we didn't do anything so stop it.
It's true that they have to do something to stop climate change, but we can contribute too.
Giving ideas, like you are doing right now,it's a good beginning.
But i want to let clear, that it's not responsability of rich countries give us money to develop sustainable economies. If they did something that harm all planet in their country, they can also do something to help our planet in the same place.
We have to think now, what we can do to solve this problem with the resources, our countries have. We can develop sustainable economies that no harm nature, without needing the help of rich countries.

I totally agree with you. Many times, as we have seen within the past years the most affected people are the ones that had nothing to do with the real problem. What you explain in your opinion is really important and that's the kind of ideas the Gobernment and Politicians should look for. Greetings from Peru!
