On Saturday, 07 October, there was an interview with the CEO of the company “Swiss Climate”, Werner Halter, published in the newspaper BZ. The purpose of the company “Swiss Climate” is to connect ecological progresses with economical gains. It analyses the consumption of energy and resources of other companies and shows how they can reduce this usage and at the same time save money. For example: to reduce paper waste in the service industry, turn off computers automatically after the end of work etc. Werner Halter says that also big concerns can save lots of energy in many simple ways. The problem is that most people think, doing something for climate protection is expensive. But W. Halter is convinced of the contrary: Saving energy can also be an economical advantage. So he assures that the investments, which “Swiss Climate” suggests to the companies will be profitable after two or three years.
Furthermore, he says it would be important that the Kyoto- protocol would be carried on after the “climate summit”. Otherwise, people will maybe forget the importance of climate protection. Well- we will see…
