In Mbezi Beach students would like to do the following towards realization of project to reduce CO2 emissions:
In classroom discussion students said since Climate change is caused as result of emissions of greenhouse gases from industries, cars and motor bike. They would like to start a Tree planting campaign in industries here in Dar es Salaam so that they create awareness to the public about the benefits of trees in bring down and sucking CO2 emitted from these industries . Students in Mbezi also proposed to plant trees along side the roads in Dar es Salaam that will also act as CO2 filter, filtering emitted CO2 from the cars passing. Proposed industries for tree planting campaign include Tanzania Cigarette Company industry (TCC), Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) and Twiga Cement all found in Dar es Salaam.
Provide education to the public about the importance of planting trees and forcing the Government to raise tax to cigarette companies as a way of discouraging cigarette smoking which has both environmental and health effects.
Students in Mbezi want to use media like television channels to talk about climate change. In this program students proposed to use youth television programs where they will conduct debates on effects of climate change with their colleagues from other schools. Proposed television channel include TBC1, ITV, and Channel 5.
Students in Mbezi also proposed the introduction of climate change debate competition among participating schools where students will be debating on various Climate change topics prepared by TAYEN. At the end of these debates the winning students and school will awarded certificates and certain prize.
Mbezi students also proposed the use famous Musician in Tanzania who would produce a song about climate change thereafter the song will be played in radio and TV stations in Tanzania to educate people about climate change. They proposed the following bongo flava artists to be involved in production of climate change song: Banana Zoro, Lady Jay Dee, and Prof. Jay and Kingwendu.
