This year on the 49th founding anniversary of our school , TIBETAN CHILDREN'S VILLAGE , DHARAMSALA CANTT , the students from middle and senior section performed an calisthenic display forming the "CUT CO2 , 350 , SAVE WORLD " formation infront many people who gathered at our school.  And hopefully we feel that many people got the idea about the  importance of reducing the level of CO2 to 350 ppm which is considered the safe level . Right now it has already crossed safe zone and entered into danger zone of about 387 ppm CO2 level . We must start doing and stop talking too much ..

Today i along with two of our my student climate members , Tenzin Dhonden and Palgon Tsering  went to the school's boys hostel to replace the incandescent lamp by compact fluorescent lamp . Actually some days before i have already noted down the electrical energy consumed in by the boys hostel in one day . The electric meter reading shows that it in one day electrical energy consumed is 29.2KWH or units . So that was before replacing the incandescent lamps by the CFL. SO today i have  taken the reading just after replacing the incandescent lamps by the Compact Fluorescent lamps at 3 : 15 PM . There are three electric meters for the boys hostel whose readings show ( meter 1 : 31005 KWH ,  meter 2 : 4582.7 kwh, Meter 3: 11756 KWH) . My student Dhonten , he is a quick learner and also stays at hostel told me that  he will take the readings of the electric meter tomorow exactly at 3: 15 pm . So by subtracting the today's reading from the tomorow's one , we will get the electrical energy consumed by the boy's hostel in one day . So keeping our fingers crossed , coz tommorow we expect the total electrical energy consumed to be much less than 29.2KWH . lets wait and see . I am going to put the result in the diary on Monday ie. 19/X/09

So to educate all , with the support of MY CLIMATE ORGANISATION , we are going to replace as much incandescent lamp by the more energy efficient Compact Fluorescent Lamps ( CFL ) . Today as the eco- club co ordinator i ordered for hundred 23W Philips CFL and fifty 5 W CFL and i am expecting to get it tomorow or day after tomorow . i am really excited as for the replacement of the lamps i am going to involve students from class seven to twelve to part in this venture. Rest  assured that i will always be with them when they carry out this project . thats it for today , lets see whether we will get the CFL tomorow or not . Here in our school , in order to let everyone know about the climate changes and its effects like global warming , we have introduced this board called My Climate on which we will be pasting latest news on the developments in the world environment. This board is situated at a place where most of the students pass by during their break time and lunch time of school . So we really hope this will draw the students attention to get the knowledge of the serious issues . Education is one of the best ways to combat this problem , students must be made familiar with this problem so that when they grow older they will have a attitude where by they know that what we are is all because of our mother earth , so we just cannot take things lightly .  To start with , we have pasted on our board the letters that we have recieved from the students of our partner school Gymnasium Seefeld , Switzerland . We thank for their letters .We are also sending you our letters .  Lets all rise together to protect mother nature.

On saturday , September 12 , 2009 . it was really a great moment for all the members of our school my climate group , as we got a separate room for us to carry out our different activities and meetings related to keeping our environment clean . One thing after our discussion , we have come to a decision that meanwhile we wait for the financial aid to caryy out the project , " UPPER T.C.V. SCHOOL GOES CFL" , we thought why not carry out a project for converting the waste into something useful . For that our first step is to collect all the milk packets that each home recieves every morning . The milk packets as we know can not be recycled , so it goess off as waste only .Because it has got quite a hard covering , we decided to convert all those into useful teaching aids , like letters , playing cards, sticking important  news , flash cards . But you have to be careful about one thing, and that is you must wash the packet when u pour the milk in a container . Keeping it unwashed too long will cause it to smell and get very dirty . So after washing it off you dry it and then its ready for use . The only that is needed are scissors , marker pen  and scale . Hows the idea., the next time you want to throw the waste , think again as its ready for use in some other useful purpose.

As we know , today's hot topic is global warming and climate change and ofcourse if we do not so something quick and fast , we may not be able to leave a safe and secure home for our future generations . There fore its imperative that we should know the changes taking place around us and round the world .
