Asked by: Menengai High School | Collège Sacré-Cœur (2)

a) What kind of direct problems have been mentioned?

b) What solutions have been proposed?

c) What priority have these reports about climate change been given in the newspapers in your country?

d) Which headline caught your eye and impressed you the most? Explain the reason why.

e) Which headline would you give an article about climat change?

(Answer: Newspapers usually compare the high temperatures to the temperatures we had in the last years, they write that rain becomes rare, that we have more and heavier cyclones, and that it becomes drier and drier, especially in the South- east where we live - in Tulear.)

(What solutions could there be? Sensibilisation of people, they need to know what deforestation is all about. starting afforestation, we need to use less charcoal but solar stoves instead. New jobs for people who live of exploitation of wood.)

In our country climate change isn't much talked about in the newspapers. they write about it if something extraordinary is happening - as for example a cyclone, "kéré" =big famine or invasions of grasshoppers

d) Quelle est la « UNE » qui t’a le plus marqué ? Pour quelle raison ?

Réponse :

La déforestation à Madagascar. Deforestation of Madagascar: Erosion is a big problem. The soil becomes less fertile and few and fewer plants can grow on it: famine may be the consequence.

Back to the green Island
