The answers we gave

01. Interview
Our Answer: a) In the next 1000 years, the thermometer won't fall. This because of too much CO2 in the air and we can't do anything against it. Even if there were no CO2 discharge anymore, nothing would change. All this is because the temperature is changing even slower than the CO2 concentration in the air. This global heating tends to result in a higher sea level and this is very dangerous to many countries which have access to the sea. If we continue living like this, at the end of this century half of the people will be hungry. All this because the average temperatures are rising dramatically. Many of the nature phenomena will be destroyed, just to give an example: Almost all of the glaciers have lost from 1864-2005 half of their size. If we continue and don’t do anything to avoid this, the next generations will just see pictures of the glaciers. We think it’s a big problem and every person has to do something. We hope that the people in a few years won’t suffer from the fact that we haven’t done anything.
02. Search the local newspapers of your country for articles about climate change.
Our Answer: a) In our newspapers the get-together in Washington is mentioned. Agents from all over the world will talk about the climate. In the center of the discussion is the reduction of the greenhouse gases. b) They want to extend the validity of the Kyoto pact and have the promise that the USA and China enter in to the pact which means, that they give the best to reduce the greenhouse gases. c) It’s a problem which is always in the newspapers but often there are local events which are more in front.
03. The topic of climate change arouses a number of strong emotions in people.
Our Answer: a) We are angry about the fellow men who don’t care about the climate change. We don’t feel any responsibility as a single person about this. Every person thinks the other one should look after the climate change. But it doesn’t solve the problem because every person has to begin personally himself. We hope that our environment wil get better as our world administration can find a solution for the problem. It isn’t indifferent for us what’s happening to our world, but we always want that someone else makes the first step and begins with the change. b) Our feeling is anger, because we feel responsible about the environment and don’t want to destroy the world. So we are angry about the people who don’t care about the problem and also a bit about us because we always think the others should make the first step. At the end nobody does it.
